Let’s face it; animals are pretty awesome! They’re cute, friendly, and love you (as long as you give them food). What’s not to adore about them? Those of us that work at LFOD care a whole bunch about animals… So much so that every year at the convention, we partner up with the Manchester Animal Shelter to help promote finding homes for the animals that might not have one.
The Manchester Animal Shelter is a non-profit that was founded in 1996. Since opening it’s doors, the shelter has helped over 20,000 animals that have made their way to the shelter. Taking in homeless, abused, and abandoned animals, the shelter’s goal is zero-population-growth through the spay/neuter process. Focusing on programs that enforce adoption, medical care, education, and fostering, the shelter uses events and fundraisers to get the funding that they need to help animals who need it!
By having places like the Manchester Animal Shelter and organizations such as the Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter, animals with no home have hope. There are so many critters that end up alone and on the streets. Since they can’t do much to help themselves, it’s up to us to do it for them. Every year at the Live Free Or Die Expo as well as around holiday times, we have set up a box drive for donations. Whether this be blankets, food, toys, or litter, these items are a huge help in keeping the lonely animals of Manchester safe. During the expo this year, we will have a 50/50 to raise extra money for the animals and also a box for donations!
As said above, animals don’t have the opportunity to help themselves. It’s up to us to make sure that they’re well taken care of. If you plan on attending the expo this year, be sure to be on the lookout for the Manchester Animal Shelter! Even if you have a few extra bucks to drop in the box, it would be greatly appreciated by our four legged friends. We can’t wait to see everyone this weekend!
